Joint Seminar Series

“The Correlative Nature of Real Estate and IT:

Understanding the Impact of Technology on Real Estate”

Monday, April 22nd, 2013. 19:00~

@The University of Tokyo

(本イベントは英語のみでの開催となります。)

Over the past generation, the nature of prime office accommodations, defined as class-A space in the industry, has undergone a dramatic transition, first addressing the physical need to integrate IT equipment in conventional office environments, and later, reflecting changes in the very essence of how knowledge-based business is conducted. Furthermore, we now carry out much of our business from locations outside the traditional office, and cannot deny our high dependence on mobile devices. Layered onto this are a number of contemporary workplace trends shifting emphasis in space allocations towards optimized collaboration and flexibility, flattening hierarchy and diminishing entitlements. The implications for the property industry are demanding, as tenant companies strive to optimize worker efficiency while at the same time consolidating their real estate footprint, leverage global resources and preserve a sustainable business platform in an environment that demands constant innovation.

Join us on Monday, April 22nd for the first of a three-part series of interactive forums on the correlation between technology and real estate as Gordon Hatton, Vice President of Pembroke Real Estate Japan and Spencer Wolfe, Managing Director of AINEO Networks, look at how real estate and IT have interacted over the past quarter century – with a focus on Japan – and how much more intimate the relationship has become, and sketch some broad strokes to help provide a picture of where it might be taking us.

All are welcome to attend. Students and faculty can participate at no charge.
