AINEO Networks, the distributor for Mitel Networks products in Japan and Korea, announced today the availability of Aastra products in Japan. Mitel made public its intensions to acquire Aastra in November of 2013. With this acquisition, Mitel became a $1B USD company in early 2014.
Aastra headquartered in Ontario, Canada had an international reach with some 2000 employees in 30 countries worldwide. Aastra was one fo the leading players in the European IP PBX/PBX market owning the number one market share in the SMB market (Small Medium Business) and the top supplier of DECT wireless terminals in EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa). Aastra heavily invested in research and development of new products. Aastra itself grew through acquisitions of Ascom (2003), EADS Telecom(2005), Ericcson’s PBX business(2005) and Comdasys (2008). Mitel continues to support and develop the Aastra businesses.
AINEO will be providing and supporting Aastra SIP phones as well as Microsoft Lync Server certified phones to organizations in Japan beginning 1 February 2015. Aastra phones give Japanese organizations products that work well with standard IP PBX brands as well as the popular new Microsoft voice and messaging server formerly OCS now called Lync.
Aastra phones will initially be provided under the Aastra brand with later shipments rebranded under the Mitel product name.
